About Dental Implants
To replace a missing tooth or teeth with a long-lasting restoration, skilled dentist Dr. Karuna Peravali is proud to perform implant dentistry for her patients in McKinney, TX. Implant dentistry uses surgically placed metal posts in your jawbone to act like the root of the tooth. The post(s) may be connected to a crown, denture, or bridge for a beautiful restoration that can be cleaned, like natural teeth. To fix a gap in your smile, make an appointment to get more information on implant dentistry at White Lotus Dental. Dental implants may help if you don't want to deal with loose crowns or the hassle of removable dentures. Talk to Dr. Peravali about what you would like and figure out if implant dentistry is a good option for you. With dental implants, you can have a restored, rejuvenated smile that can last for several years.
Best Candidates for Dental Implants
Implants can restore one or several lost teeth by connecting the implant to a crown, denture, or bridge. You may prefer implant dentistry if you have a removable or cemented dental restoration but do not like the appearance, fit, or the special cleaning it requires. Dental implants can be treated just like your normal teeth with daily flossing and brushing. At your consultation, Dr. Peravali will evaluate the health of your jawbone and gums to determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants. In some cases, a bone or gum graft surgery may be needed prior to implant surgery to strengthen your mouth. Dental implants may not be appropriate if you use tobacco products, are pregnant, or are being treated for another issue, such as periodontal disease.

"I needed an urgent appointment on a Saturday due to an unbearable tooth pain that worsened over the course of the week. Not only I was able to get an appointment, Dr. Karuna scheduled a root canal on the same day to make sure the pain was addressed. This timely procedure fully addressed the pain and I was able to stay on top of my busy schedule at work. Most importantly, their office didn't have any information on me as I was a new patient who called on that day, but they were able to quickly assess my condition after taking x-rays and immediately prioritized the procedure on the same day. I highly recommend Dr. Karuna and their front office is great as well."- S.N. / Google / Nov 07, 2022

What to Expect
To prepare for your dental implants, you may have teeth extracted, as well as gum and bone grafts. When you are ready for dental implant surgery, the needed areas will be given local anesthesia to numb your mouth. Other anesthesia or sedation may be used to relax you throughout the treatment. Dr. Peravali will start by making a surgical incision in your gums so the post can be placed in your jawbone. The incision in the gums will be stitched closed with some of the dental implant above the gums. This will be repeated if several implants are required. While the dental implant integrates into the gums and jawbone over the following months, a temporary cover will be placed over the implants. As soon as Dr. Peravali decides your implant is stable, your permanent restoration (crown, denture, or bridge) can be connected to your implant and adjusted for a comfortable fit.
There may be some short-term inflammation in your mouth and lower face, plus discomfort, bruising, and minor bleeding after your implant procedure. Dr. Peravali will talk to you about what is to be expected and what should be reported to our office. She may also provide you with a prescription for pain relievers and antibiotics. After your dental implants are integrated and your restoration is connected, you should continue to maintain a good oral care routine at home that includes daily brushing and flossing. You should schedule annual exams and bi-annual professional cleanings at White Lotus Dental so Dr. Peravali can evaluate the health of your mouth and implants. She will be able to let you know if your restorations or implants should be adjusted, repaired, or replaced.
Based on your dental insurance company and personal coverage, part of the expenses of your implants and custom restoration may be covered by your plan. We will talk to your dental insurance company to understand your coverage and determine your personal cost. At your initial consultation with Dr. Peravali, she may estimate your expenses and discuss payment methods we accept along with information on low-interest medical financing.
