About Removable Dentures@headingTag>
The natural teeth can be lost due to disease, decay, trauma, accident, or other reasons, but it is important to replace the missing teeth with full or partial dentures to maintain the form, function, and appearance of the mouth and face. Not replacing missing teeth can lead to functional or aesthetic issues, including jaw bone loss and facial aging. Dentures can be removable or implanted in the upper or lower arches to replace some or all of the teeth. At White Lotus Dental in McKinney, TX, family and cosmetic dentist Dr. Karuna Peravali offers several denture options to her North Texas patients to help them speak and eat normally. She is highly trained and experienced with restoring a patient's smile with cosmetic dentures. The dentures also prevent facial muscles from shifting or atrophy so the shape of the mouth and face are maintained. Dr. Peravali provides customized, natural-looking dentures in different colors and materials to best suit her patients' needs and cosmetic goals.
What to Expect@headingTag>
Our office makes it a priority to ensure patients are satisfied and comfortable with their custom dentures. The procedure for dentures starts with the dentist preparing the patient's mouth, which may include extractions, cleanings, or filing the natural teeth. After the mouth is prepared, digital X-rays and physical wax bite impressions will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory where custom dentures will be created. While the permanent dentures are being created, the dentist will give you temporary dentures to wear. When the custom dentures are completed, the dentist will adjust as needed to give you your most comfortable and secure fit. If needed, you may schedule a follow up appointment after your dentures are first fitted so the dentist can check and adjust the fit of the dentures. We believe that receiving new dentures should be a positive and rewarding experience from beginning to end, so we make every effort to streamline our process and make each visit more convenient for you.
Care instructions for dentures will be provided by the dentist to help you keep your dentures clean and in good condition. Removable dentures can last 2 – 10 years with proper care, including regular dental exams as often as recommended by your dentist to check the wear of your dentures and the health of your gums and mouth.
Complete and partial dentures are usually covered at least in part by dental insurance and our office will contact your insurance company to calculate what your insurance will pay and your personal cost. Please talk to your dentist about what payments are accepted by our office and what financing plans are available.
